CONSTRUCTION
The vessel was built in New Zealand by Whangarei Engineering & Construction Co Ltd and was delivered on the 14th November 1979.
Construction is of welded steel plate on transverse frames and longitudinal stringers. There are four water tight bulkheads.
LAYOUT
The vessel has two accommodation decks with the bridge above the accommodation and the engine room below the accommodation and the pump room forward below the focsle.
THE BRIDGE DECK has the conning station amidships with the dredging console to starboard with access P & S to each wing deck. The navigation and communication area is aft. Behind the bridge is the vent room and battery locker.
POOP DECK has access up and out onto the side decks to port and starboard. This deck also has the galley, mess area, ablutions block and converted crew cabin with 3 bunks.
MAIN DECK has access up and down via the stair well. It has the Masters and Chief Mates cabins to starboard and Chief Engineer and Second Engineers cabins to port. Amidships is the ablutions block. Aft is the workshop to port and store to starboard and access to the steering flat and down to the engineroom. Below the focsle are the Bosuns locker, paint store, lamp room, CO2 locker and access down to the Pump room.
SUMMARY
“Kawatiri” appears to be an efficient dedicated trailing suction grab hopper dredge that is well maintained and is predominately worked off New Zealand's West Coast. Due to the vessels relatively small size, maneuverability and capability of dredging and dumping in shallow waters, makes her a sort after versatile dredge.
Tenders are to be submitted within the above time frame to SeaBoats NZ as detailed in the tender documents. The seller retains the right to sell the vessel prior to the close of tenders.
The vessel is lying at Westport, New Zealand. To receive an Invitation to Tender and arrange inspection please contact:
