Note from owner: Vela Blanca is a fantastic yacht built to the highest standard. The pedigree and reputation of Van Dam - Nordia is better known for the construction of luxury mega yachts than for constructing yachts of this medium size range. In fact this particular model is one of the smallest of their fleet. It is a far greater quality than any production yacht. Even looking to the good brands as Oyster, Swan, Najad, Hallberg Rassy. But this top level is not only for the things you will see (that is mostly what happens in the current industry). It is also in the things you do not see where sooner or later you would rely your own life while sailing offshore. And this for us was a determinant factor while buying Vela Blanca. In fact the high level of construction of Van Dam - Nordia starts from the very beginning. Vela Blanca was constructed at Gouwerok B.V - Holland. Gouwerok yard (that built quality yachts since 1851) is specialized in alloy construction and has built the most desirables mega yacht in the world. There is nothing like this in this range of 55 to 60ft. For me it was a very pleasant surprise to find out that this quality could still be available in a level where I could still afford and enjoy. To investigate and to have as much information as possible, I have personally contacted Gouwerok B.V and talk to the owner of the yard, who confirmed that the quality achieve in its hull is in the same level. Amazing! As a result of being a Van Dam designed, constructed in such a high standard, Vela Blanca, is a proper oceanic yacht constructed to go anywhere in any sea condition. In terms of comfort, it is a dreamed yacht that clicks all the boxes. You can go safely in a circumnavigation or it can be used coastal and for extensive comfort summer. It is really a pleasure to sail in any ocean. The deep central cockpit with full enclose insures protection and makes us feel safe in any sea and sailing condition. It is presented in excellent condition.

ABRIDGED SPECIFICATION
Designing and building a luxury Ocean-going yacht is a very personal matter. Every Owner has his own ideas about what will be ideal for him. This Nordia Cruiser is therefore designed and built as an individual project in which any personal wishes can be gratified in detail.
However, the following features are always integrated.
With the Nordia Cruiser line often long voyages are made and therefore there is striven for a perfect synthesis between sailing performance and living comfort.
The hull lines below the waterline are flowingly stretched and together with the moderate finkeel/rudder-with-skeg configuration this results in excellent course stability. To achieve a smooth entry into the waves and a mild overall behaviour, even in rough seas, a 20° bow-waterline-incidence angle has been applied.
Because of the seawater resistant aluminium hull construction, the displacement is moderate and with a high aspect ratio rigging, carrying 6m² of working sail per 1 ton displacement, a high speed under sail is granted, even in light wind conditions.
With a propulsion power of at least 3 kW (4 Hp) per 1 ton displacement, the ship will already reach a comfortable cruising speed under low engine revolutions, resulting in dramatic reductions of engine sound and fuel consumption.
The accommodation layout will be designed in accordance with the requirements of the Owner. However, as an important starting point there will be comfortable room at the dinner table and in the cockpit for at least the same amount of people as there are beds for.
With the Nordia Cruiser, Robert Van Dam has not only created a sailing yacht of exceptional beauty, quality and individuality, he also endowed the ship with the highest possible degree of seaworthiness. In short, this Nordia Cruiser has been designed for the exacting Owner, who will only be satisfied with the best. Final building specifications and drawings are made in accordance with the Owners requirements.
Continuous quality control, Value, Luxury, Comfort, Performance, World-wide service
The excellent reputation of VAN DAM NORDIA is based upon these solid pillars.
In the yacht building industry it often happens that a project starts on relatively poor specifications while the list of additional extras grows to extreme proportions in the course of construction.
It may be expected that this practice can lead to differences of opinion and unpleasant frustrating discussions.
Van Dam Nordia Yachts, however, shows a totally different attitude to this matter.
This abridge specification of the Nordia Cruiser covers a luxury Ocean going sailing yacht, custom designed and soundly built to the highest level of perfection and equipped to such a complete extend, that upgrades are not necessary.

Note from owner:
Vela Blanca is a fantastic yacht built to the highest standard of the yachting industry.
The pedigree and reputation of Van Dam - Nordia is better known for the construction of luxury mega yachts than for constructing yachts of this medium size range. In fact this particular model is one of the smallest of their fleet.
As a result of this, expect the highest quality and strength in every single detail as in its concept and way of construction is a small version of a mega yacht.
You would confirm this in the layout and set up of a proper assigned Engine room; in the ebony inlaid at the dinette and navigation table; or in the fantastic finishing of its crystal cabinet.
The semi-circular doors, stairs and the whole woodwork is an artisanal piece of art that makes this yacht very unique. It is far over in quality than any production yacht. Even looking to the good brands as Oyster, Swan, Najad, Hallberg Rassy..
From the hull itself. Aluminium is the most desire material in the mega yacht industry. The reason is simple. It is much stronger than plastic, and it is much lighter than steel. It is the perfect combination and balance that allows performance and strength.
In particular, the hull and super deck of Vela Blanca was constructed at Gouwerok B.V - Holland.
Gouwerok yard (that built quality yachts since 1851) is specialized in alloy construction and has built the most desirables mega yacht in the world. Some of them well known in our area, such as Adele (Hoek designed 54.64mts); Nirvana (Hoek designed 53.5mts), Broeas (Dubois 52.53mts), Psyrax (Van Dam designed 30.48mts), and hundred others.
Clients like De Vries, Royal Huisman Shipyard, Vitters shipyard, Dubois and Van Dam Nordia, built in the highest alloy quality in this yard.
For instance, I have all the documentation that proofs that Vela Blanca was built in the same yard of the luxury Adele, a yacht of over 50.000.000U$S. And from my proud owner’s point of view, this is amazing as it insures the highest level of construction in the industry from the very beginning. From the hull and structure itself. Safety, durability, insulation, all are high attributes of this fantastic level of the construction and way Vela Blanca was built.
And from there you can understand the quality and strength of Vela Blanca’s genes. There is nothing like this in this range of 55 to 60ft. For me it was a very pleasant surprise to find out that this quality could still be available in a level where I could still afford and enjoy.
To investigate and to have as much information as possible, I have personally contacted Gouwerok B.V and talk to the owner of the yard, who confirmed that the quality achieve in its hull is in the same level or Adele. Amazing!
As a result of being a Van Dam designed, constructed in such a high standard, Vela Blanca, is a proper oceanic yacht constructed to go anywhere in any sea condition.
Another advantage that was determinant for my wife and me while buying her, was that although its large size, the yacht had the simplicity of not needing crew. In fact the boat can be easily sail single- handed as all gear is at a push button system, and we have done extensive passages just by the 2 of us and sailing 90% of the time the yacht by myself.
In terms of comfort, it is a dreamed yacht that clicks all the boxes. You can go safely in a circumnavigation or it can be used coastal and for extensive comfort summer.
The luxury of the interior woodwork; the leather interior, make this a perfect yacht that once you are in, you would not want to leave.
But what surprised me more, is that the extra strength and comfort does not come with a compromised of sailing performance. In fact, the sailing performance has proved to be amazing. We have gone to Fiji and to Tonga and enjoy sailing an average 180 to 200miles a day with each passage taking us in safety within 6 to 7 days.
It is really a pleasure to sail in any ocean. The deep central cockpit with full enclose insures protection and makes us feel safe in any sea and sailing condition. In the hardest notes of sailing we had experienced while returning to Auckland from Fiji by July 2011 a big storm for 3 days. Even with seas of 10mts waves and 65 knots of wind the boat was performing steady at 9knots. After 3 days with constant winds over 50 knots we realized how lucky we were to be in a Nordia.
We hope our yacht finds the right owner that could appreciate its quality, luxury and comfort. We have cared of Vela Blanca since the day we bought it. So expect all new electronic, a full new sets of sails, new hydraulic vang, new boom, full new bimini and dodger structure, new leather seats, a full repaint of the yacht, new dinghy/outboard, and everything you can dream about in a fantastic yacht.
It is presented in excellent condition. It is just time to enjoy it and live the dream.
