Well Maintained 31.25m ASD Tug built 1986 Nagasaki Shipyard, Japan to Lloyds class +100A1 Tug +LMC notation. Powered by two Niigata 6L25CXE turbo diesel engines which develop 1500 hp (1103 kw) each at 750 rpm. These drive aft to a pair of Niigata ZP2A Z-Peller azimuth drive units that provide 31 tonne bollard pull. Reduction on the Azimuth drive is 2.22:1. There are two Yanmar 6HAL-N auxiliary engines that develop 125 hp (92 kw)at 1500 rpm. Each is coupled to a Nishishiea Electric, generator with an output of 100kva 415-240 volts AC at 1500 rpm to supply ships primary electrical power.

The galley area is spacious and well laid out with a stainless steel sink top and basin and Formica work space. Domestic galley equipment includes:
Panasonic Microwave oven
A Frigidaire domestic type refrigerator and freezer
A large Sanwa commercial stainless steel stove and oven.
A stainless steel range hood over the cook top.
An instant hot water dispenser
A Chilled water fountain.
The mess also has an older style TV monitor.
The heads are all porcelain domestic type bowls with gravity flush. Black water is all treated with the onboard treatment plant.
The showers and vanities have pressure hot and cold water.
Electric heaters are fitted in all cabins and in the wheelhouse.
The vessel is a 31 tonne bollard pull ASD Harbour Tug with twin aft mounted “Z-Peller” Azimuth propulsion units with aft direction skeg keel.
The vessel has three decks with the engineering and tankage below the hull deck line with the bulk of the accommodation on the main deck.
The bridge deck has the wheel house forward of amidships above the accommodation deck. There is a single fire monitor on the “Monkey island” above the wheel house.
The vessel operates a single towing winch forward through an enclosed towing fairlead.
Substantial solid rubber fenders are fitted fore and aft.
The vessel was built by Nagasaki Ship Yard Co, Nagasaki Japan and commissioned in July 1986, to a design by MJ Doherty Pty Ltd of Sydney, Australia. She is of welded steel construction on formed steel frames, stringers and fore and aft girders. There are 4 water tight bulkheads throughout the hull. Integral tankage is forward and aft and along keelson area in the engine room.
All steel surfaces have been well prepared and finished with appropriate marine coatings.
The wheel house is forward on the upper deck with access out, port and starboard and internal access down to the next deck. The helm station is forward with the winch controls forward to port. Aft to starboard is a chart table.
Aft, outside the wheel house is the fire control area and access up to the monkey island.
Below the wheel house is the main accommodation deck. This has the master’s cabin forward to starboard with the Chief engineer’s cabin forward to port.
Aft of the engineer’s cabin as an abolition area and to starboard is the Bosun’s cabin.
A central passageway leads aft and there is access port and starboard to the main deck,
Just aft of this is the mess area with the galley to port and a two table saloon to starboard.
Further aft is the engine room access lobby with a drying room to port.
The cabins are all very tidy with Formica panelling and teak joinery and trim. The deck heads are Ceratone type panels.
The lower deck has access to the forepeak which houses the drum winch for the winch cable tail and has rope and general stowage and single chain locker.
Aft of this are two crew cabins, one each side with a fixed berth and a fold down berth above.
Next area aft is the engine room.
The twin main engines are centrally mounted with the two power generating plants outboard of each engine. An enclosed control room is situated at the aft end of the engine room.
A work bench and work shop equipment is located at the aft end of the engine room.
The next area aft is the propeller room which has the twin “Z-drive” units and its associated machinery. Access to this area is through a water tight door from the engine. An escape hatch is fitted in the deck head forward.
The vessel has been built and maintained to Lloyds Class +100Tug + LMC and is valid until 31st January 2021.
On the fore deck is the towing winch and the enclosed towing fair lead. The towing winch is a hydraulic twin roller friction type with a separate chain gipsy and capstan on the starboard side for the anchor cable. The towing winch has approx.. 80mm diameter multi strand synthetic line.
The tail of the winch cable is fed below to a synchronized drum winch.
Deck mounted winch controls are aft to starboard.
A separate warping drum is located to starboard of the main winch.
The aft deck has a vertical capstan winch fitted on the starboard side.
A robust towing bollard is fitted aft on the aft deck with a cable bridge to clear the escape hatches and bulwarks.
The wheel is accessed internally from the main accommodation deck and to the wing decks each side. The wheel house is large and well laid out with good all-round visibility. The tug Master has a central operating seat with azimuth controls each side. Foot operated switches are used to key the VHF communications and the crew intercom.
The towing winch controls are forward to port.
Aft to starboard is a small chart area.
Bridge Electronic equipment includes:
1 x Simrad CR44 monitor displays Radar, depth sounder, chart plotter and possibly auto pilot.
1 x Icom MA500 RT Class B, AIS transponder.
1 x GME 660D VHF transceiver
1 x Icom IC M127 VHF Transceiver
1 x Furuno GP 30 GPS receiver
Extra equipment includes
Clock, barometer, magnetic Compass and wipers on the forward and aft windows.
A GME GX600 VHF transceiver is mounted in the mess area.
Two large enclosed panels house AC and DC electrical circuits.

The main engines are air start with a hydraulic clutch to the drive units.
Engine exhausts are through elaborate stainless steel silencers and casings to stacks aft of the accommodation.

The Danchi main fire pump is driven off a right angle PTO on the starboard engine main engine.
The back-up fire and bilge pumps are Daito electric pumps.
The engine room also houses the Taikokikai sewerage treatment plant and oil separators.
The main and emergency air compressors are Matsubara units.
A small Hashin SB1-250W 2 cylinder diesel engine drives an emergency fire pump and an emergency air compressor. This engine is mounted aft in the propeller room.
Fuel oil is carried in 4 tanks with a total capacity of 44.69 cu Meters.
Lube oil is in 2 tanks with a total capacity of 2.93 cu M.
The engine room area and its associated equipment all appears to be in good tidy condition.
Most engine room functions are monitored in the control room and at the wheel house.
Primary ships AC electrical power is provided by the 2 x 100kva generators. Voltage is 415 and 240 AC. DC voltages are primarily 24volt with some 12volt services
Electrical circuits are monitored and controlled in the engine room control room and in the wheel house
Battery banks are provided for the emergency engine, back up lighting and radio and electronic equipment.
A single fixed fire monitor is fitted on the monkey island above the bridge deck. The aft bridge deck also has 6 outlets, 4 from the main fire pump and 2 for foam or light water.
Approximately 1400 litres of light water is carried in a single tank.
Fixed fire hose reels are located in the engine room, port side deck and forward starboard wheel house coaming.
Portable extinguishers are provided through out the vessel with additional systems in the engine room Appropriate and alarm systems are also provided.
2 sets of fire-fighting suits and breathing apparatus are provided.
A fixed Halon fire suppressant system is installed in the machinery spaces.
The vessel is equipped and maintained with the safety equipment required for Lloyds and MNZ class and survey.
A single 8 man Zodiac life raft is carried on the bridge deck. Life buoys and Epirb are also provided.
Life-saving appliances are provided for up to 17 people.
